New R&D project in the High Technology Incubator in Bioeconomy and Circular Economy

The Innovation Department of 360 Solutions Climate Change has developed a new R&D project for the Recovery of agro-industrial waste, through biotechnological processes, for the Ecodesign of new products manufactured from bio-based materials.

The project will participate in the incubation and acceleration process of the IAT, High Technology Incubator in Bioeconomy and Circular Economy (Mérida) within the framework of the December 2022 Call.

Our goal is to valorize abundant waste through biotechnological processes for the eco-design of new products that can replace plastic products to use and throw away.

More in detail, the aim is to generate a new bioplastic material (PLA) that incorporates agro-industrial waste and is biodegradable, compostable and biobased. Such material can have infinite applications: the manufacture of cutlery of more than one use, tableware and kitchen utensils as well as replace all kinds of polymers that are currently on the market extending their useful life. It will also be possible to make moldings for glasses, cases for mobiles and computers and many more products depending on the degree of hardness and flexibility of the polymer resulting from the different formulations obtained in the project.

This initiative aims to help end users reduce their carbon footprint and contribute to environmental sustainability through a new material that represents a more environmentally responsible option than other types of synthetic materials.
