We compensate our carbon footprint!

In 360 Soluciones Cambio Climatico, we offset our Carbon footprint in collaboration with the Badajoz City Council by planting poplar trees on the right bank of the Guadiana River as it passes through Badajoz.

In our philosophy of being part of the generation that did what was necessary to contribute to Climate Change mitigation, since the establishment of 360 Soluciones Cambio Climatico, we decided to calculate our Carbon footprint and, year by year, we set ourselves the challenge of reducing it, applying good practices such as using only energy from renewable sources, reducing our use of plastic, paper, etc., through the implementation of annual improvement plans.

In this regard, we are part of the Carbon footprint, compensation, and CO2 absorption projects Registry of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge since 2019. Thus, last year, we aimed to take a step further by offsetting the greenhouse gas emissions generated by our activity through tree plantations in our environment. For us, it was essential to have an organization committed to maintaining plantations, and the Badajoz City Council has given us the opportunity to launch this exciting initiative.

We want to thank the entire team of the City Council, in what we hope will be the first of many years of compensating our footprint, starting with Ana Casañas for putting us in contact with Rubén Galea, who quickly embraced the initiative and put us in touch with Reyes Lena Sanchez and Beatriz Palomeque, who facilitated the entire implementation of the action by promoting planting on the right bank of the urban stretch of the Guadiana River as it passes through Badajoz. For us, it is a space of great value as it is the protected area of our city, which we enjoy in a thousand ways, observing its biodiversity on a walk, contemplating the beautiful sunsets over the river, or chatting on one of the terraces.

The selected species has been the poplar, a native species that contributes to enriching the river landscape and is also known for its ability to absorb large amounts of carbon dioxide. We also want to thank the teachers and students of IES Zurbarán de Badajoz and the Schiller Gymnasium institute in Germany who have participated in the plantations, especially Carmen Espejo, Pilar Merino, and María Almeida, who, knowing the effort involved in organizing activities such as exchanges and environmental education events outside the educational center, are willing to participate knowing the enrichment of such initiatives, which promotes awareness and respect for nature and encourages changes and attitudes of sustainability.

Beatriz's explanations to highlight the Guadiana River, explaining the river recovery project, the importance of riparian vegetation, and biodiversity have been key to a day that, as they say, was perfect. We would also feel very fortunate if this activity encourages other organizations to implement Climate Change mitigation actions.

Thanks to all involved, it has been a day to remember for the entire 360 Soluciones team.
