Activa Startup: Recovery of plastic and stone waste

We are excited to announce that we have just launched a new waste recovery project in collaboration with the company Recicla Siglo XXI and the University of Extremadura within the framework of the "Activa Startup" program. This initiative, supported by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism through the recovery and resilience mechanism and with funds from the European Union Next Generation EU, represents an important step forward in sustainable waste management.

The project is born from the problems faced by the company Recicla Siglo XXI at present in terms of the recovery and disposal of plastic waste. As managers of agro-industrial waste and construction and demolition waste (RCDS), they face a constant challenge to provide an appropriate destination for these materials, especially those that are not marketable.

To address this challenge, Recicla Siglo XXI proposed an open innovation challenge, and we, 360 Soluciones Cambio Climático, are committed to collaborating in the development of a sustainable and effective solution. Our vision is to transform this waste into valuable resources, thus reducing the environmental impact of the company and contributing to the circular economy.  The proposed solution is the construction of a pyrolysis plant for non-marketable plastic and stone waste from the RCDS, which will be carried out thanks to the collaboration with the University of Extremadura. Pyrolysis is a thermal decomposition process in the absence of oxygen that converts waste into valuable products, such as synthetic bitumen and recycled stone aggregates.

The expected impact is the creation of a binding agent from recycled plastic and stone waste. This new product will use the paving of roads and roads, and will be developed under eco-design criteria to reduce the consumption of natural resources at each stage of the process. Optimal results are expected through a pyrolysis process and it is intended to import a 4 ton/day pyrolysis plant of plastic waste to form an organizational structure that manages the necessary procedures.

In short, this exciting waste recovery project represents a significant step towards a more sustainable and environmentally conscious world. We look forward to working closely with Recicla Siglo XXI to overcome this challenge and transform waste into valuable resources.
