Operative Group OLIVECIDA

We are excited to announce our participation in the GO OLIVECIDA project, an innovative initiative that seeks to validate the use of olive dressing wastewater as an herbicide agent. This project is a crucial step towards the sustainable management and recovery of these effluents, which in the past represented an environmental challenge.

The GO OLIVECIDA project consortium is composed of organizations committed to the environment and sustainability. Next to us, 360 Climate Change Solutions, are the Extremadura National Agro-food Technology Centre (CTAEX), Extremadura Verde S.L. and IAN Grupo Alimentario. Together, we are focused on carrying out a project that benefits both the environment and the community.

This project represents a significant advance in the search for sustainable solutions for waste management and the promotion of environmentally friendly practices in the olive industry.

Olive dressing wastewater is characterized by high salinity and organic compounds, which, if handled incorrectly, can contaminate nearby soils and water bodies. However, its application as a herbicide agent may represent a significant environmental improvement compared to conventional chemical herbicides. By using olive dressing wastewater, dependence on harmful chemicals is reduced, thereby reducing soil and water pollution, and promoting more sustainable management of these effluents.

Our contribution to the project focuses on the technical, economic and environmental validation of the use of this residue as a herbicide agent. We are committed to thoroughly assessing the environmental impact that this new product could have on soil, as well as conducting a full life cycle analysis.

It should be noted that the GO OLIVECIDA project has received support from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, demonstrating the recognition of the European Union and Spain to the importance of this initiative to promote sustainability and the circular economy in the olive industry.

In short, we are excited to be part of the GO OLIVECIDA project and to contribute to the validation of this innovative solution for the use of olive dressing wastewater. With our focus on technical, economic and environmental validation, we hope this project will be an important step towards a more sustainable future for the olive industry and the environment in general.

We will continue to work hard to achieve responsible management of these valuable resources!
